  12. Net-Control is a DOS program. It is a tool to keep track of the traffic
  13. in Ethernet LANs.
  14.  - Net-Control gives an overview of the actual behavior of the network.
  15.  - It allows to recognize problems early.
  16.  - It stores data to allow analysis after a network-crash.
  17.  - It makes you aware of ongoing changes, even if they are small.
  18.  - It stores and presents daily station- and group-statistics.
  19.  - It helps to identify "unknown stations" on the network.
  20.  - Bigger LANs can be completely monitored by distributed equipment.
  21.  - Net-Control allows remote maintenance and diagnostic.

  23. Requirements:
  24.  - IBM compatible (286 or higher) system with at least 500 kb free
  25.    memory and harddisk with at least 1.5 MB free space (demo: 2.3 MB).
  26.  - RS232 or parallel interface connected to an Ethernet Box from RzK

  28.    an ethernet board with packet driver interface,

  31. ≤Installation of Net-Control:≥

  33. ≤Box or Packet Driver:≥
  34. Net-Control 4.1 differs from all earlier versions in one point. Now it
  35. is possible to run Net-Control without an Ethernet Box. The Ethernet
  36. Box normally is used as an ethernet statistic probe for Net-Control.
  37. The Ethernet Box gathers all statistical data and measures load, errors
  38. and collisions by hardware.

  40. You have to choose before the installtion, if you want to install
  41. Net-Control for an Ethernet Box or for using it with a PC network
  42. card and a packet driver interface.

  45. ≤Installation as Demo:≥
  46. If no Ethernet Box is connected to your PC and no ethernet card with
  47. packet driver is present, you can use the special demo version of
  48. Net-Control. This version contains a complete tutorial for Net-Control.
  49. You have to decide here , if you want to install Net-Control as a demo.

  52. ≤Net-Control License:≥  (Registration of Net-Control)
  53. If you have bought a license of Net-Control, you can decide to register
  54. your copy of Net-Control during the installation. You should not distribute
  55. the registered version of Net-Control. Nor you should copy and distribute
  56. the user manual.

  59. ≤Utility programs for the Ethernet Box:≥
  60. If you have a Net-Control version for the Ethernet Box you can install
  61. the utility programs for the box during teh Net-Control Installation.

  65. Select the drive or DOS path, where this installation routine is located
  66. (usually "A:" or "B:").

  69. Input the path, where Net-Control should be installed.

  71.     and:  C:\NET-DEMO  for the Net-Control Tutorial.

  75. If you choose "yes" here, Net-Control will start automatically after the
  76. installation is finished.
